Bill Smiley

Fort Worth , Tx: Bill Smiley, 75, passed away Monday, June 16, 2009 at a local

Hospital.

Memorial Service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at University United Methodist church

2416 W. Berry, Fort Worth. Private interment service is Friday in Laurel Land

Memorial Park of Fort Worth.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice.

Bill was born in Pecan Gap on March 25, 1933, to Gladys L. and Jim Mack

Smiley. He was a Cooper High School graduate, class of 1950. Bill attended

the University of Texas at Austin and Texas Christian University.

With 35 years of service, Bill began his career with the Fort Worth & Denver

Railway Co. in 1952. He retired as director of corporate audit with Burlinton

Northern in 1988.

He was a member of University  United Methodist Church, and

was past President of Methodist Men and affectionately known as "Biscuti Maker".

Bill also held many committee positions over the past 20 years. As a member of the

BNSF Veterans, he was serving as President of the Texas Region and was

secretary/teasurerof the Fort Worth Chapter and had been past president of the chapter.

Bill enjoyed

golf and was a member of Mountain Valley Country Club. He was also a Shriner and

Scottish Rite Mason

Survivors: Wife of 50 years, Vivian Smiley; son, Mark Smiley and daughter, Cheryl

Smiley; and grand-children, Christopher Bosley, Adam, Jacob and Maddison Smiley.

  Class News: Another member of the class of 1950 has gone home to be with the Lord. Bill Smiley fought a good fight

and he will be sorely missed.


 

  

Below you see the pairing and courtship of two Mallard ducks back in early spring.

Richard and I enjoy animal and bird watching.

Below is a pileated woodpecker. They are large ( 40-49 Cm long) N. American woodpeckers and are in east Texas.  Notice the size as compared to the Mockingbird.

Here is the result of the pairing. Seven or eight  ducks hatched and Momma duck takes

them for a swim.

This guy is always looking the other way when you want a frontal shot.
